"Speaking of Touch"
"We call our emotions feelings, and we care most deeply when something "touches" us." This quotation from the section, along with the continuous mentioning of children and infants throughout the reading, drove my thoughts towards family relationships, both nuclear and extended. Displays of love and affection between siblings often "touch" the hearts of parents, and are sometimes rare occurrences within the household, often the reason they hold so much meaning.
"The Inner Climate"
"Nothing looks more contented in the winter than a black-and-white cocker spaniel sprawling on the living room carpet in a bright shaft of sunlight." Having a black-and-white dog of my own who is quite content tucking himself into a blanket or snuggling at my side, this quotation brought a "warm and fuzzy feeling" to my heart and inspired me to create this sketch of him.
